Semaglutide Dosage Chart: Ozempic, Wegovy and Wegovy Tablets
Short answer: semaglutide is always started low and increased in steps. Ozempic starts at 0.25 mg weekly and can rise to 2 mg. Wegovy injection starts at 0.25 mg weekly, steps up every 4 weeks, and is maintained at 1.7 mg or 2.4 mg (up to 7.2 mg for some adults). Wegovy tablets start at 1.5 mg daily and reach 25 mg daily. Your prescriber decides your actual dose.

Ozempic is approved for type 2 diabetes, not for weight loss, so its labeled schedule is built around blood-sugar control. For a missed dose, the label says to give it within 5 days.

- If 2 or more consecutive weekly doses are missed, the label says to restart the escalation at a lower dose to reduce stomach side effects.

The tablet is taken in the morning on an empty stomach with up to 4 ounces of plain water, then you wait at least 30 minutes before eating, drinking anything else, or taking other oral medicines.
Why the steps are so gradual
Stepping up slowly is meant to reduce stomach side effects such as nausea and vomiting. If a step is not tolerated, the label allows delaying the next increase. Compounded or non-FDA-approved semaglutide products are not covered by these schedules.
