Weight Loss by Date Calculator
Last updated October 27, 2026
Short answer: Enter your current weight, goal weight and a target date to see how many pounds per week you would need to lose. The CDC describes about 1 to 2 pounds a week as a gradual, steady pace, and the NIDDK says experts recommend starting with 5% to 10% of your starting weight over about 6 months. If the pace you need is higher, a later date is usually the more realistic plan.

Your target
Enter a current weight and a lower goal weight, then pick a date.
How to read the result
- Under 1 pound a week: slower than the CDC range, which is a comfortable pace.
- 1 to 2 pounds a week: inside the CDC's gradual, steady range.
- Over 2 pounds a week: faster than that range. Consider moving the date out or asking a clinician.
- Check the percentage too. The NIDDK suggests 5% to 10% of starting weight over about 6 months as a starting point.
Why the answer is only a rough guide
The calculator divides the weight you want to lose by the weeks until your date. Real weight loss tends to be faster early and slower later, so the early weeks can run ahead of the average and later weeks behind it. On GLP-1 medications, the trial averages came over 56 to 72 weeks, with the curve flattening toward a plateau. See GLP-1 weight loss plateau.
