Healthy Weight Range by Height Calculator

Last updated October 30, 2026

Short answer: The CDC defines a healthy weight as a BMI from 18.5 to under 25. Enter your height below to see what that range is in pounds. For a person 5 feet 10 inches tall it is about 129 to 174 pounds. This is a screening range, not a personal target, and your own healthy weight depends on more than height.

How to use this

  • Treat the range as a screening guide. BMI uses only height and weight, so it cannot tell body fat from muscle or say anything about your health on its own.
  • A goal does not have to be the top of the healthy range. The CDC notes even modest weight loss can improve blood pressure, cholesterol and blood sugar, and its example is that 5% of a 200-pound person is 10 pounds.
  • If your BMI is outside the healthy range, a clinician can say what, if anything, to do about it.
